Personal Care
Dignified, predictable, and culturally respectful daily support — delivered in Mandarin or English across Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
Inviting a support worker into your home for personal care takes an enormous amount of trust. For individuals navigating Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or sensory processing differences, even ordinary daily routines can feel overwhelming. At Journey In Action Support, we provide highly personalised, sensory-conscious daily care — communicating clearly in Mandarin or English so that every step of your routine stays comfortable, predictable, and entirely on your terms.

How We Support You
- Sensory-Safe Hygiene & Grooming We assist with showering, dressing, and grooming while strictly respecting touch aversions and sensory boundaries. We accommodate your preferred water temperature, use your own trusted unscented products, and never rush.
- Predictable Morning & Evening Routines Transitions can be hard. We use visual schedules or clear, step-by-step explanations — in Mandarin or English — so the person always knows what’s happening next, reducing anxiety and helping prevent meltdowns.
- Toileting & Continence Support Discreet, respectful assistance delivered with patience and complete privacy, always at the person’s pace.
- Culturally Familiar Meal Preparation Food aversions are common with sensory needs. We don’t just “prep meals” — we prepare culturally familiar Chinese dishes that respect specific texture, temperature and flavour preferences, bringing comfort back to mealtimes.
- Mobility, Transfers & Getting Ready Patient, careful assistance with moving around the home, transfers, and getting ready for the day, keeping the environment calm and low-stress.
Who We Support
- Adults and young people with autism or sensory processing differences
- Mandarin-speaking individuals and families who feel most comfortable being supported in their first language
- People who need a consistent, familiar support worker rather than a rotating roster of strangers
- Families who want care that respects cultural food, routines and customs at home
How Your NDIS Plan Covers Personal Care
Personal care is funded under your Core Supports budget — specifically the “Assistance with Daily Personal Activities” category. If you’re Plan-Managed or Self-Managed, you can engage us directly. If you’re NDIA-Managed, get in touch and we’ll talk you through your options. Not sure which category applies to you? We’re happy to help you read your plan — just ask.
(Note: this is general information, not financial or NDIS planning advice. Please check your own plan or speak with your plan manager / support coordinator.)
